Job Description:
The Center for Energy and Environment (CEE) seeks an outgoing and highly motivated individual to provide in
home residential energy analysis in support of CEE’s Community Energy Services Program (CES). The home
visits are conducted in partnership with the Energy Counselor. The Energy Inspector will be primarily
responsible for the technical aspects of the CES home visit, including conducting building diagnostics, identifying
major retrofit opportunities, and providing bid specifications for insulation / air sealing. The successful
candidate will possess excellent communication skills and enjoy working with a wide variety of homeowners in
the Minneapolis/St. Paul Metropolitan Area. Multiple positions are available.
Responsibilities:
Primary responsibility for technical aspects of the CES home visit, including:
- Following established protocol
- Conducting blower door testing
- Performing combustion safety test
- Preparing insulation and air sealing estimates
- Preparing recommendations for Home Energy Report and Recommendations
- Installing and assisting homeowners with installation of programmable thermostats and low-cost
materials, including pipe insulation, compact fluorescent light bulbs, weather-stripping, etc.
- Assisting Energy Counselor in presenting recommendations and answering technical questions
- Entering data into tracking database
- Coordinating in-home visit with Energy Counselor
- Driving a CEE vehicle and managing time to complete scheduled visits
Qualifications:
- Excellent communication and persuasion skills; sales, training or educational experience a plus
- Excellent time-management and organizational skills
- Basic knowledge and experience with residential building science, residential energy efficiency and
residential building construction and capacity to learn more
- Physical ability to work on ladders and enter attics, basements and other confined areas of a home
- Basic computer and keyboard competency
- Drivers license and good driving record required
Working Hours:
- Position is full-time 40 hour/week that requires evening and weekend hours
Compensation:
- Salary based on qualifications and experience starting at $31,200 with a comprehensive package of
benefits
